Abstract
The sample of patients ranged about 70 patients. They underwent the clinical sheet application and were purified according to the following criteria: 1-Clinical interview: according to the clinical sheet 2- Radiological investigation-Diffusion weighted MRI to show the extent of vascular lesion-B1000: Where the b-value reflects the strength of the applied diffusion weighting.-ADC = Apparent Diffusion Coefficient).It was concluded that, late onset depression that occurs for the first time round the age of 60years old is a disorder that lies upon many vascular abnormalities. It has been characterized by a new scope of symptomatology rather than that appears in younger major depression, it also has a resistant and chronic nature.The vascular insult is located in many mood regulation related regions, as studied by diffusion weighted MRI, these areas are, the frontoparietal, the limbic structures, the basal ganglia and the white matters.
