Abstract
This study was carried in Cardiology Department; Faculty of
Medicine; Zagazig University. Our aim was to study if the LA v-wave in
LA pressure tracing is a determinant of PA pressure in patients with pure
MS undergoing balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMVP), and if it can
predict the improvement ofPA pressure after BMVP.
We studied 50 patients with pure, tight MS; MY area:S 1 Cm2
, and
with neither significant MR (more than grade IfIV) nor significant AYD.
All the patients were in sinus rhythm.
Among the 50 patients, there were 19 males and 31 females. Their
age ranged from 15 to 47 years with mean age of27.96±9.18 years .
