Abstract
This study was under taken with the aim of assessing the knowiedge and performance related to nursing care of post operative open hean patiems in Zagazig University Hospital. The sample composed of 30 nurses who are working with post operative open hean patients in intensive care unit of Zagazig University Hospital. Tools of data collection were observational checklist and questionnaire sheet. bservational checklist filled by the researcher. The study result revealed that the younger , recently graduated nurses showed the best knowledge and performance, effect of experience, was not evident in this study . bachelor holding nurses showed better. knowledge and performance than diploma holding nurses. The qualification of the nurses affect the type of care provided to open heal1 surgery patients . Based on the findings of this study, developmem of the follo” up courses and in services training to maintain efticiem performance of indi”idual in care of post - operative open heart patient, for positive action needed to achieve high level to the benefit of the patients.
