Abstract

The present study is to determine the hydrographic parameters, incident & reflected radiation, the radon air and the radioactivity components (Potassium, Radium and thorium) of Northern Safaga Bay (NSB) in the area extends from latitudes 26° 44’ 57’’ & 26° 51’ 30’’N and longitudes 33° 56’& 34° 00’ E. It is included four areas (Abu Soma, El Dahira, Middle and Channel stations).
The highest seasonal value of the incident solar radiation (1682.7 w/m2) is recorded during summer, while the lowest value (1074.0 w/m2) is in winter. The seasonal intensity of reflected radiation is fluctuated between 32.3 & 255.1 w/m2 at surface and 39.6 & 300.3 w/m2 near bottom, respectively.
During the period of the study, the water temperature, salinity and density are fluctuated between 20.0 & 30.0 °C, 41.7 & 43.3 psu and 27.6 & 30.6, respectively.
The seasonal distribution of water masses in the present study in NSB shows existence three time scale water masses. Winter water mass has lowest water temperature, highest water salinity and highest ?t, while summer water mass has the highest water temperature and spring water mass has intermediate values between winter and summer-autumn water masses.
In the area under study, the minimum & maximum values of the radioactive parameter (radon air, Radium-226, Thorium-232 and Potassium-40) are fluctuated between 2 &11 Bq/cm3, 5 & 19 Bq/g, 4 & 19 Bq/kg, and 1545 & 6122 Bq/kg, respectively. The concentration of potassium is affected by the waves and current system permanent in that area and near the mountains, whereas the concentration of thorium and radium is affected by shallow, waves and current.
By the collected monthly data (environmental conditions and incident & reflected radiation) in the four areas (two stations used as Psoriasis treatment, one station outside NSB and one station inside the Bay) and using two statistical methods (correlation and the cluster analysis). The stations inside NSB can treat from Psoriasis.
