Abstract New Valley Governorate represent about half of the ARE area In the recent years the Governorate look after cultivation of these arid deserts. So that knowledges on environments and their effects on animal health must be taken in consideration and also to assess base line data to be used in clinical and laboratory diagnosis in these arid tropics. A total number of 60 lactating dairy cows in mid lactation (20 Øure Friesian, 20 Crossbred “Friesian X Balady” and 20 Salady dairy cows) aging from 4-6 years old and belonging to the Animal production station at El Kharga city. The experiment was done through January and February, 1993 representing winter season and May and June , 1993 representing summer season. The environmental factors were measured including air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and sunshine duration in addition to water consumption and milk production. Also blood samples were taken to measure hemoglobin, PCV and glucose. In addition to blood sera for estimation of total serum protein, calcium, inorganic phosphorus , sodium, potassium chloride and iron. The results showed very high ambient air temperature and very low relative humidity during summer. The agrochemical analysis revealed higher calcium and iron and lower inorganic phosphorus in both soil and water which affect on their concentration in animal foods. friesian cows showed highly significant increase in body temperature |
