Abstract

The biochemical identification of 29 isolates of fseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from different or gans and intestinal content of diseased and dead squabs was carried out. The LD 50 of pseudomonas aeruginosa in experimently infected squabs was 1.5 x 10 and 3 x 10 viable microorganism subcutanously and orally dosed squabs respectively. Infectivity tests revealed the possible pathogenic role of pseudomonas aeruginosa to susceptible healthy 20 days old squabs. The organism was pathogenic as it was capable to produce evidence of septicaemia in orally and subcutanously infected squabs. Samples appeared 6-11 days and 2-8 days post infection with oral and subcutanous routhes respectively and were manifisted by cyanosed skin severe depression loss of appetite, greenish diarrhoea and ruffling feathers. These were a constant feature in all subcutanously infected squabs while in the group infected orally, deprission, loss of appetite, greenish diarrhoea and ruffling of feathers were commonly observed.
