The Requirements of Sustainable Development is new approach for preparing biology teachers at Faculties of Education . The present research investigates the following basic question : ” How can a program for preparing Biology Teachers at faculties of education be built in the light of requirements of sustainable development ? ” This question is branched out into the following sub-questions : What are the requirements of sustainable development that should be integrated in the Biology teacher education program at faculties of education ? To what extent are these requirements of sustainable development available in the current Biology teacher education program at faculties of education ? To what extent are the Biology department students at faculties of education aware of these requirements by the end of their preparation ? What are specifications of the proposed program for preparing Biology Teachers at faculties of education in the light of requirements of sustainable development ? What is the effectiveness of the proposed program in developing Biology department students’ cognitive achievement at faculties of education ? What is the effectiveness of the proposed program in developing Biology department students’ attitudes toward sustainable development at faculties of education ? The participants in the study were fifty-six undergraduate University students majoring in science department in Damietta & Kafr- El-Shaikh Faculties of education . This Study utilized a list of includes some requirements of the Sustainable Development . Preparing the analysis tool for the content of the academic preparation program according to the requirements of the sustainable development . Preparing a diagnosis test for the fourth year students of biology department in the faculties of education . Suggested image for the preparation program of biology teachers in faculties of education . A test of acquiring knowledge included in the unit . measuring attitudes towards the sustainable development . The Study used a pretest and posttest one experimental group design . The results were Regarding the effectiveness of the proposed program in developing the Biology department students’ achievement of the requirements of sustainable development and their attitudes towards sustainable development, the findings reveal that : The proposed program is effective in developing the Biology department students’ achievement of the concepts in one of the proposed program’s units entitled: ” The Environment and Sustainable Development ” . The proposed program is effective in developing the Biology department students’ attitudes towards sustainable development. The proposed program is highly effective in achieving the concepts of sustainable development in the proposed program’s unit on ” The Environment and Sustainable Development ” . The proposed program is highly effective in developing the attitude towards sustainable development . The proposed program has a high effect size on achieving the concepts of the proposed unit ( The Environment and Sustainable Development).
