Abstract Background: bronchial asthma in children is currently recognized as an important health issue Objects: provide the necessary background information about Corticosteroids in Childhood Bronchial Asthma Methods and results: we clarified the role of ICS in controlling different aspects of airway inflammation that may prevent airway remodeling causing fixed airway obstruction. We also clarified the hazards of long term use of high doses of ICS in asthma. Conclusion: Shortly after corticosteroids discovery, they became the cornerstone of asthma treatment because of their excellent antiinflammatory profile that reduce the morbidity during severe acute attacks, but they are associated with a range of adverse reactions, which prevent steroids from being the ideal therapy for allergic asthma. Therefore inhalation glucocorticoids have been developed in an attempt to reduce systemic side effects. we clarified the safe doses of ICS in asthmatic children. |
