Abstract This study was aimed to compare any differences in morbidities and complications between resorbable and titanium miniplating systems for fixation of mandibular symphyseal fractures. Twenty patients with noncomminuted mandibular symphyseal fractures were selected randomly from the outpatient clinic, Oral surgery Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University or from Otorhinolayngology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University. four patients had mandibular fractures other than the symphyseal one. The patients were randomly assigned 2 groups according to the type of the plating system used for internal fixation. Group I was the resorbable group and Group II was the titanium group. Preoperative evaluation of the patients was performed through clinical and radiographic examinations. clinical examinations was carried out extra- and intra-orally by inspection and palpation of the fractured sites Radiographic examination was in the from of panoramic views to determine The site, number, type of the fracture and degree of displacement.
