Abstract In this thesis we study Qualitative Behavior of Some Nonlinear Dynamical Systems with Applications. This thesis consists of introduction and six chapters. In chapter 1 we briefly summarize the main results on discrete dynamical systems which will be used throughout the thesis. In chapters 2, 3 new mathematical models of the Cournot games are studied with the assumption that the players are heterogeneous. The complex dynamics, bifurcations and chaos are displayed by computing numerically the maximal Lyapunov exponents, sensitive dependence on initial conditions and fractal dimension of chaotic attractors. In chapters 4, 5 the behavior of a chaotic discrete predator-prey system is examined. Extensive numerical simulations are presented and the occurrence of Neimark-Sacker bifurcations and chaos are then motivated analytically. Finally, in chapter 6 the bifurcation analysis for Burgers mapping has been studied. The conditions of existence for pitchfork bifurcation, flip bifurcation and Neimark-Sacker bifurcation are derived by using center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory. The control of the map around stable Neimark-Sacker bifurcation has been achieved by using feedback polynomial controller technique. |
