Abstract The aim of the present study is to estimate the echocardiographic incidence of MVP in patients with documented history of rheumatic fever with or without associated mitral regurge, mitral stenosis or combined lesion, also this work aimed at studying the echocardiographic characteristics of MVP in rheumatic mitral val ve disease and evaluating the relationship between the grading of MVP and the severity of mitral regurge. Summary of the work : The material of the present study comprised 75 patients with rheumatic mitral valve disease and 15 cases with documented history of rheumatic fevers ; 69 females and 31 males. Their age ranged between 14-46 years (mean 23.49 ± 78) years. Cases were selected from the outpatient cardiovascular clinic of Mansoura University Hospital. |
