Abstract Su1fonate esler Containing thiazolone derivative 1 was used as an adaptabfe slarting material for the synthesis of new heterocyclic mono- ,Hi - and tri fused ring systems that meight have extended and lor improved antifunga1 activiiy. Thus ,when Compound ’1 was allowed to react with hydrazine Ilydrale it gave a-Ihiobenzamido -P-[p -(benzene su!fonyloxy) phenyIl~acrylic acid hydrazide 1.. Treatment of compound •Z with sodium nitrite lInd lIet gave the corresponding acrylic add azide derivative J. when the hltter product was extracted in boiling benzene, 4- (benzenesuIfQnyJoxy phfnyl methyl) ~6- phenyl ~ 211 -1v3,5- thiadiazinone derivative :I was formed in quantitative yield, (scheme-I), Compound 1 reacted also witb activated nHrile to give bi~and tricyclic fused ring systems. Thus renuxing compound 1 with malononifrile Or {’{hyl cyanoacetate ofTorded the pyrono (3t2-d) tbiazole derivatives 1J! a,b respectively (scheme-2). Treatment of the latter products with hydrazine hydrate in ethanol gave the corresponding tricyclic fused ring systems ~ 113 _ and lib respeclively (scheme ~ 3)~ Similar treatment of compmlDd (1) with 2-amtno-I.1,3 - tricyano propene or 5-amino-4-cyano-3--cyanomethyl pyrazole (as activated nitrile rtngents) yiddl’d also lite tricyclic fusro ring systems !j (sdH’me - 4) and l.§ re,pedi.ely. |
