Abstract Stratigraphic data on adequately dated Paleozoic rocks in the Gulf of Suez region are still partly incomplete and controversial, and hence equivalencies are sometimes uncertain. Obviously, this is due to the rarity of detailed paleontological investigations to these rocks. The present study aimed at describing the litho and biostratigraphic units making up the Late Paleozoic succession exposed between Abu Darag lighthouse and Wadi Aheimer on the western coastal plain of the Gulf of Suez. A detailed - up to date - systematic description for the encountered macrofossils, which required some taxonomic revisions, is introduced. |
