Abstract The present thesis deals essentially with the occurrence and composition of salt marshes in and around Manzala lake, Northern coast of Egypt. The main objective of the thesis is to shed more light on these salt marshes, evaporitic and Sabkha from the following points of view : 1- The hydrography and geomorphology of Manzala lake area. 2- Sediment lithologies and textural characteristics. 3- Mineralogical Investigation of the sediments. 4- Chemical analyses of sediments and water samples. A sufficient number of samples were collected in October 1987, April 1988 and November 1988 representing salt marshes as well as the salt pans, sabkhas and water brine in and around Manzala lake. |
