Abstract Localized juvenile periodontitis is a particular variety of periodontal disease, with characteristic signs and symptoms that makes it a separate disease entity. The speed of progression of the disease and its occurance in young age made it worthwhile for the disease to be the object of intense study. Different therapeutic modalities were used in the treatment of localized juvenile periodontitis. A number of antibiotics have been tried as a therapeutic adjunct. Among them Walker et al (88) pointed out that tetracycline is an effective antibiotic against most of the organisms associated with localized juvenile periodontitis. The present study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of clindamycin systemic antibiotic versus tetracycline in management of localized juvenile periodontitis. In this study fourteen patients ranging in age twenty to thirty five years old were selected from the Department of Oral Medicine and Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University after being diagnosed as having localized juvenile periodontitis. |
