Abstract

However, the main conclusions achieved throughout the present work are summrized in the following : 1- The Paleogene sediments are classified to the following rock stratigraphic units from top to bottom : A- The Dahaa Formation ranges from Late Eocene to Late Oligocene age. The lower most part belongs to Late Eocene age and consists of shale (medium grey to greenish grey, blocky - subflacky, moderately hard, calcareous, occassionly pyrite,) whereas the other whole part belongs to Oligocene age and consists of shale (medium grey to greenish grey, soft, subflacky - blocky, high calcareous, with traces of pyrite). B- The Apollonia Formation belongs to the Middle Eocene age. and consists of limestone (white, tanish white, milky and creamy white, soft - moderately hard, microcrystalline, slightly argilaceous with traces of pyrite.
