Abstract SUMMARY Most of this work has focussed on exploring the synthetic potentialities of 3-aryl-2,4dicarboxcanilide-5-hydr0xcy-5-methyl- cyclohexanones (1a-d) as a key intermediates for the synthesis of some new condensed heterocycles having a basic side chain. Elimination of C5-OH in (la-d) was noticed when their reactions was carried out in acidic or alkaline medium. Compounds (la-d) can be dehydrated to (2a-d) upon treatment with ethanol/HCl. |
