Abstract This work was done to evaluate the various therapeutic lines used in the treatment o-f pityriasis versicolor and to compare the results obtained with each therapeutic line and -finally to detect the drug o-f choice in this case. , For this purpose, trials o-f different lines o-f treatment were carried out on pityriasis versicolor patients. Among these therapeutic agents were Whit-field ointment (hal-f strenght) in combination with sodium hyposulphite lotion 30%; Selenium sulphidd 1% Shampoo ; Tioconazole 1% dermal cream; Clotrimazole solution; Ciclopirox Olamine cream and recent oral anti-fungal, Ketoconazole tablets 200 mg, tried on two groups o-f pityriasis versicolor patients, one group was subjected to Ketoconazole tablets (200 mg) single tablet daily -for 35 days, while the other group was subjected to the same drug as single oral daily dose for 10 days. This work was extented furthur to anlyse the history o-f the disease to investigate the probable predisposing factors; previous lines of therapy and previous recurrences. |
