Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the study of Leish - maniasis in JUbail a~ea, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The candidate was responsible for the medical department~at the naval base in Jubail. Cases of Leishmanisis were collected during three years periOd from 1981-1983. The study was conducted by making physical exam1nation and dermato1ogical screening for all patients attending the clinic. Skin ulcers on any par of the body are investigated through leishmanin skin testing. Confirmation by repeated examination of the Geimsa-stained smear of the exudate from the edges of ulcers. In cases which need more scrutinization. biopsymaterial was examlned and selective culture on NNN media.
