Abstract
SUlVIMAHY Idiopathic scoliosis by fUr the most corrunon type of scoliosis, the cause of which r’emad.na obscure in ma-: jorty of cases. ’I’he cause is mul tifac toral with a gena tic tendancy to the deformity v.hich is either triggered off or preven¬ted by external factors (Huth-Wynlle Davies, 1975). It is clasoified by James (1954) , into infantile, Juvenile and adoleGcent types according to the peak per¬oid of onset. Infantile idiopatl.:.ic scoliosis occurs between birth a.nd J years of age, usually in males, the left thoracic curve is the curve pattern of this type and al.ou t 90 per¬c e z , t of these curves resolved spontaneausly even jf’ not treated, the remaning progress to Beverely rigid curves that carry 0. poor pr’ogno s Le , Juvenile idiopathic scoliosiB occurs between ages of 4 and 10 years, and more evenly distributed between the sexes. ’I’he right thoracic curve is the curve pattern of this type.
