Abstract

Dermatoglyphic patterns in patients with CHD Aim of work :- The aim of this work is to study the dermatoglyphic patterns in patients with CHD searching for significant differences which could be taken as a genetic marker. Summary of the work :- The material of the present study comprised 50 patients with CHD, 45 males and 5 females with age ranging from 40-74 years, 43 patients seclected from inpatients admitted to the coronary care unit and 7 patients selected from outpatient clinic of cardiology of Mansoura University Hospital. Their dermatoglyphic features were compared with normal Egyptian control 420 cases which obtained from a study carried out by Hafez et al., (1982). Thorough history taking and clinical examination, were done for every patient in addition to some investigations including ECG, fundus examination, serum cholesterol, triglycerides, serum creatinine, uric acid and blood sugar: fasting and post prandial. Patients with CHD accompanied by hypertension or diabetes nielli - tus were excluded. Dermatoglyphics were read by direct vision and recorded and the findings were analysed as described by Cummins and Midlo for D line.
