Abstract
Reed et al (1980) have shown unexplained predilecti.on for higher adherence of group A streptococci isolated from subjects during acute rheumatic episodes to pharymgeal clees obtained from rheumatic patients as compared to normal, non rheumatic controls. This work was carried out to study the genetic susceptibility of adherence of group A streptococci to pharyngeal cells in rheumatic fever cases:- 1) 15 multiplex families with rheumatic fever;- A- Parents. B- Affected siblings. C- Unaffected siblings. f 2) 30 completly normal unrelated individuals. the follwing investigations were carried out for all the individuals: 1- History and clinical examination. 2- ESR, ECG and echocardiography. # 3- HLA typing. 4- Adherence of group A streptococci to pharyngeal ce Ll a.
