Abstract

The experiment trials were conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, Egypt during two successive seasons 2001 and 2002 to investigate the relative susceptibility of three mungbean varieties to major insect pests and determine the population density of these insect pests and their natural enemies. The mung varieties were v.c.2010, v.2719, and Kwmy1. <U+F049>. A. Visual examination S. littoralis was the most abundant on the three varieties v.2010, v.c.2719, and Kwmy1. Meanwhile, H. armigera was the less abundant one during the two seasons of study. Chrysoperla carnae formed the highest population density on v.c.2719 and Kwmy1 in 2001 season. While, T. basalis was the most abundant on v.2010. whereas, Bracon sp. was the less abundant on the three varieties. During the second season, S. interruptus, T. basalis and P. alfierii were the most numerous species on v.2010, v.c.2719, and Kwmy1, respectively. Moreover, C. septumpunctata formed the less population density on v.2010 and v.c.2719. While, S. interruptus was the least one on Kwmy1. I. B. Sweepnet. Nezara viridula formed the highest population density of the insect community on the three mungbean varieties. While, C. maculatus represented the lowest percentage on the three varieties during the two seasons of study. Eleven natural enemies were associated with the mungbean insects. Trissolcus basalis formed the highest population density on all varieties in both seasons of study. III. Yellow sticky trap (YST): Bemisia spp. complex were the most abundant on three varieties during the two seasons of study. Moreover, A. gossypii was the lowest one on v.c.2719 and Kwmy1. While, E. decipennis formed the lowest population density on v.2010 during the first season of study. whereas, during the second season, T. tabaci was the lowest abundant on v.2010 and Kwmy1. Meanwhile, E. decipennis was the lowest one on v.c.2719. On the other hand, T. basalis occupied first rank on the three varieties during the first season. Moreover, S. interruptus formed the less population density on v.c.2719 and Kwmy1. While, O. albidipennis formed the lowest one on the third variety. In 2002 season, T. basalis formed the highest population density on v.c.2719 and Kwmy1. whereas, S. syriaucus was the most abundant on v.2010. Moreover, Ichnuomon sp. and P. raborator formed the lowest abundant.
