Abstract

In the present study, Serum samples of 40 HCVinfected patients positive for total antiHCV antibodies, and they were 30 males (75%) and 10 females (25%). In addition, serum samples from 8 healthy individuals were used as negative controls. The following results were detected using ELISA techniques: (60%) out of serum samples were positive for antiHCV IgG, and (40%) were negative. (77.5%) out of serum samples were positive for antiHCV IgM; While, (22.5%) were negative. (65%) out of serum samples were positive for HCV antigen. While, (35%) were negative. In conclusion, the results of the present study are in agreement with that of the pervious studies with regard to the high prevalence of antiHCV IgG, antiHCV IgM, HCV antigen and TNFga sin HCV infected patients. Also, there is an increased prevalence of TNFga sin positive antiHCV IgG, antiHCV IgM, and HCV antigen levels than in patients negative for these serological markers. The present results indicated that, TNFga swas detected in HCV patients, and it can be used as a marker to assess the activation of immune system in HCV infected patients.
