Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behaviour of aluminium in 2M hydrochloric acid solution and the inhibiting effect of ketonic Mannich bases compounds. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these compounds increased by increasing their concentration and decreased by raising the temperature, so that the adsorption of these compounds is physical adsorption and follow Temkin isotherm. The inhibition efficiencies also increased by addition of potassium salts. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. The influence of chemical structure of these ketonic Mannich bases compounds on their inhibition efficiencies was discussed. Galvanostatic polarization technique was used as a second method to study the inhibiting effect of ketonic Mannich bases compounds. |
