Abstract

Polarization and weightloss methods have been used to study the inhibition of corrosion of 6163aluminium in 3M H3PO4 solutions by using some thiazolidinone derivatives. the results showed that the order of the percentage inhibition efficiency (I E) is : a>b>c>d>e. the results of polarization showed that, these compounds act as mixed type inhibitors, but the anode is more polarized when an external current was applied. The effect of temperature on the corrosion rate of 6163 aluminium was studied in order to obtain the thermodynamic parameters of corrosion process. The adsorption of thiazolidinone derivatives on the 6163aluminum surface in 3M H3PO4 follows Temkin<U+2019>s adsorption isotherm. (I E) of all the investigated compounds are increased significantly on addition of small concentrations of KI, KSCN and KBr in H3PO4 due to synergism
