Abstract

This study was carried out on 60 patients of either sex with an age ranging from 20 to 60 years. These patients were admitted at department of neurosurgery in Mansoura University Hospital and subjected to cervical spines surgery Patients were randomly assigned to one of two groups, patients received either intravenous rocuronium bromide in a dose of 0.6 mg/kg (n=30 group I) or succinylcholine in a dose of 1.0 mg/kg (n=30 group II). With patient,s head and neck placed in the neutral position, with jaw thrust, The lightwand is then shaped, bending it 3–6 cm from the distal end to a 90°–120° “hockey-stick” formation, It can be concluded that Trachlight is a suitable technique for intubating patients undergoing cervical spine surgery and rocuronium offers better intuabating conditions than succinylecholine when used for Trachlight intubation with reasonable hemodynamic stability..
