Abstract Eighty three subjects were enrolled in this study with age ranging from 6 months 5 years. Subjects were divided into three groups: Group I: cyanotic group of 36 subjects who were further subdivided into cyanotic patients without pulmonary hypertension (la) and cyanotic patients with pulmonary hypertension (Ib). • Group II: acyanotic group of35 subjects who were further subdivided into acyanotic patients without pulmonary hypertension (IIa) and acyanotic patients with pulmonary hypertension (lib). • Group III : control group of 12 subjects. All groups were subjected to the following: history taking, examination, radiologic examination, electrocardiogram and echocardiography to diagnose presence or absence of congenital cardiac lesion and pulmonary hypertension. Laboratory investigations were done in the form of determination of hematocrite and arterial blood gases In all subjects serum angiogenin level was measured and correlated to oxygen tension, oxygen saturation and pulmonary hypertension. The results of our study revealed: J - Angiogenin level is significantly elevate1 in patients with cyanotic congenital heart disease when compared to acyanotic and control groups. 2- Elevated serum angiogenin level in cyanotic patients is positively correlated with degree of hypoxemia. |
