Abstract
Abortion is a distressing problem for both parents and physician especially when it becomes a recurrent event. So in our study we tried to show to prevalence of abortion in Dakahlia governerate to find out the risk factors for abortion also we tried by the available investigation in our university hospital to find out the most common causes of abortion from the study when find that as regard the epidemiology of abortion that: Abortion is common below the age of 20 years old and above the age of 40. II is common in low socioeconomic standard and low educational level females. Also it is common in multiparous women. Abortion also common in employers than housewi fe. Abortion also was common in females in rural areas than urban areas. And as regard the etiology of abortion we find that the causes of abortion according to their incidence. 1- Endocrinal causes (Diabetes Mellitus - Luteal phase defect thyroid abnormalities) (12%). 2- I.ntiphospholipid antibodies (5%). 3- Infectious causes (toxplasmosis - cytomegalovirus infection rubella) (5%). 4- Anatomical abnormalities in the genital tract (4%). 5- Environmental causes (2%). 6- Unexplained causes (75%).
