Abstract

The macro and micromorphology of the colon and rectum were carried out on 25 dogs, 25 goats and 25 donkeys of both sexes and different ages. The macromorphological study revealed the following: The length of the large intestine was about 36.3 to 59.2 cm. in the dog 284.0 to 412.0 cm. in the goat and 510.0 to 277.0 cm. in the donkey. It formed 0.73, 3.95 and 3.75 times the length of the body in the three mentioned animals respectively. The ascending colon constituted about 6.7%, 74.2% and 45.6% in the dog, goat and donkey respectively, whereas the transverse colon formed about 14.9%, 2.67% and 2.3% in the above mentioned animals respectively. The descending colon of the donkey formed about 29.8% of the total length of the large intestune, whereas in the dog and goat constituted about 25.9% and 11.3% respectively.
