Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the behaviour of viscoelastic liquids described by single integral constitutive equations in complex flow situations involving abrupt change in geometry. A weighted mean of the integral model equivalents of the upper-and lower-convected Maxwell models is employed with particular attention paid to the upper-convected Maxwell model.
