Abstract Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus have hyper coagulable state which make them more prone to diabetic microvascular and macrovascular complications Subjects & Methods The study included 60 subjects who were classified into test and control group.Test group included 50 patients, 32 males and 18 females, their ages ranged from 41-61 years, they were subdivided into 3 groups, Ia (IGT), Ib (type 2DM non complicated), and Ic (type 2DM complicated) groups.Control group which included 10 apparently healthy non diabetic subjects 7 males and 3 females specific laboratory investigations in the form of, antithrombin III (ATIII), D-dimer, von Willebrand factor antigen (vWF-Ag), thrombin antithrombin complex (TAT) and protein C were done. Results Increase in coagulation factors vWF-Ag D-dimer TAT complex and decrease level of anti-coagulant protein C and ATIII when comparing between type 2 DM patients and other studied groups.and also when comparing between type 2 DM complicated with type 2 DM non complicated groups. Conclusion: we can conclude that patients of type 2 DM have a hypercoagulable state, and that coagulation parameters are increased in type 2 DM patients, furthermore this increase is more manifested with more complicated patients. |
