Abstract

The pathogenesis of SRNS is related to the disorder of cellular immunity. Interleukin-10 one of the cytokine known to affect the function of di fferent T-cell subpopulation. This study was done to study the serum levels of IL-IO in different stages of N.S. The present study was carried out on 30 children with SRNS. It includes 17 patients (13 m& 4 f) with SRNS in activity, seven had initial attack and ten had relapses, 16 patients ( 11 cf & 5 2f-) with SRNS in remission on steroid therpay and were studied at the end of one month of dialy prednisone therapy (60 mg / m’ / day) and 19 patients ( 14 d’ & 5 f ) in remission off steroid at least one month of discontinuation of steroid therapy. Seven patients were serialy studied in the three stages of the disease . Twelve age and sex matched children were served as a control ( 7 <5 & 5 f). Serum IL-IO was measured by ELIZA Techanique. We have found that SRNS patients exihibited a defect in IL-IO . In remission off steroid they had a significantly higher basal serum IL-IO levels compared to controls. On the other hand in relapse their serum .
