Abstract
The present investigation was carried out to elucidate the histological and histochemical changes in the kidney, single liver and spleen of adult albino rat caused by injection and multiple injections of methylmecury chloride (10 mg/kg). Forty-one adult albino rats were used. They were divided into 5 groups. <Members of group I received a single injection of methyl mercury chloride in 5 m sodium bicarbonate and were sacrificed one, 3. 5 and 10 days after the injection. Members of group II and III received 2 and 5 doses respectively and were sacrificed 24 hours after the last injection. Members of group IV received 10 doses and sacrificed 24 hours and one week after the last injection. Members of group V were used as control. They received 10 injections of 5 m sodium bicarbonate solution, and were sacrificed 24 hours after the last injection. The animals were observed daily for gross changes in general appearance. Their body weights were recorded still the day of sacrifice. Members of each group were subdivided into two Animals of the first patch were fixed by perfusion.
