Abstract
Summary and Conclusion SUMMARY " ~ "amoxifen has become the drug of choice as an adjuvant therapy for breast cancer in all stages. The estrogenic like effect of tamoxifen on the , endometrium had been reported. So gynecologic surveillance of tamoxifen treated patients is required. In our study we evaluated the endometrium in (120 cases) of breast . cancer classified in postmenopausal and pre-menopausal groups, with control group. All the patients in the study were subjected to careful history, physical examination, then TVS was done. If endometrial thickness 2: 5mm, endometrial biopsy was done by Novake Curette. Also diagnostic hysteroscopy was done with cases of abnormal uterine bleeding. We found no statistical significant difference between the groups of the study as regard clinical characteristics. The duration of tamoxifen therapy in postmenopausal group ranging (2-6 years) and mean ± S.D is 2.93 ± 1.13 and in pre-menopausal group ranging (2-5 years) and mean ± S.D is 3.04 ± 0.97. We found increase in mean of endometrial thickness by TVS in group Ia that receiving tamoxifen than in group Ib that not received tamoxifen in post-menopausal patients (6.31 ± 3.32 versus 4.64 ± 2.17 and p = 0.026). Also in 66.7 % of postmenopausal patients received tamoxifen,
