Abstract Purpose: To.evaluate different methods in diagnosis and management of ,different types of peripheral arterial aneurysms. Methods: This study included 40 patients of peripheral arterial aneurysms (10 femoral, 10 popliteal, 4 subclavian, 2 ulnar, one anterior tibial, 13 anastomotic) (from July 1998 to June 2001). •Aneurysmectomy with end to end anastomosis was done in 2 cases, closure of the defect in arterial wall done in 4 cases, synthetic graft was done in 13 cases as interposition or bypass graft, autogenous vein graft was used in 11 cases as interposition or bypass graft, ligation of arterial ends afteraneurysmectomy was done in 10 cases. •The patient’s age, sex, history of hypertension D.M, smoking, Behcet’s was determined. •Various methods of investigation were used: color duplex, angiography, CT angiography, MRA, the most common method was color duplex. •It was found that the commonest type was: anastomotic aneurysm then popliteal & femoral artery aneurysms . • 28 patients were males and 12 females with mean age (46.67). •Most cases presented late (72.5%) complicated by: (DVT, neurological manifestations, bleeding, acute ischemia and chronic. |
