Abstract

The present study was performed on ] 97 cases of lymph node biopsy (105 cases are reactive lymphadenopathy, 70 cases are lymphoma rand 22 cases are metastatic tumours of lymph node) collected in the Pathology department in Mansoura faculty of medicine throughout the years] 999-2000, and they are revised according to Chan classification. Incidence of Reactive Lymphadenopathy and Lymphoma • Incidence of reactive lymphadenopathy is (53.3%). • Incidence oflymphoma is (35.5%). • Incidence of metastatic tumours oflymph node is (11.2%). Age Incidence of Reactive Lymphadenopathy • There was a wide age range from 1-70 years with the mean age of 17 years. • The most commonly affected age group was between II - 20 years (27.6%). • Under the age of 30 years the incidence of reactive lymphadenopathy is (61.9%), while over the age of 30 years the incidence is (38.] %). Sex Incidence of Reactive Lymphadenopathy • The incidence of reactive lymphadenopathy III male IS (58.09%). • The incidence of reactive lymphadenopathy in female (41 .9] %). • There was overt male preponderance with male to female ratio is 1.4 : 1. Distribution of Reactive Lymphadenopathy • Incidence oflocalized lymphadenopathy was (77.]4%). • Incidence of generalized lymphadenopathy was (22.86%).
