Abstract
This work aims to demonstrate the value of MRI in diagnosis of different types of brachial plexopathy. This study included 40 patients, 25 females and 15 males. Their .ages ranged from 11/2 months to 79 years. The mean age was 34 years. All cases were subjected to full clinical examination, magnetic resonance imaging and plain x-ray for some patients in the form of plain x-ray cervical spine anteroposterior and lateral for 12 patients, e x-ray chest, posteroanterior view for 6 patients, plain x-ray both clavicles, anteroposterior view for 2 patients and plain x-ray shoulder, anteroposterior and axial views for 1 patient. All data were analysed to demonstrate the MR findings in pathological groups as well as its value, superiority and limitations, and also to evaluate the role ofMRI in diagnosis of the different types of brachial plexopathy. It is apparent from this study that MR imaging represents a advance in examination of the brachial plexus and it is considered the imaging study of choice for the brachial plexus. This is due to its direct multiplanar capabilities together with the high contrast resolution. Both capabilities help in evaluation of the brachial pleux .
