Abstract
The study has been carried 011 62 diabetic patients (124 eyes). The diabetic eyes were divided into 4 groups. The first group with no retinopathy (30 eyes) the second group with mild to moderate non proliferative diabetic retinopathy (34 eyes) the third group with moderate to severe non proliferative diabetic retinopathy (30eyes) and the fourth group with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (30 eyes). These patients were compared to age matched controls (28 eyes). ERG was performed to the patients. The following data were revealed; as regards the ERG testing: there was a statistically significant reduction in the mean scotopic Odb amplitude from group 1 to group 4 (p<0. 001) which reflected the linear relation between the scotopic Odb amplitude and the stage of diabetic retinopathy. It got worse as retinopathy progressed. There was a statistical significant reduction in the OP summed as the severity of retinopathy increased (p<0.00 1).
