Abstract The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of plain x-ray, CT and isotopic perfusion lung scan in the detection of pulmonary metastatic deposits in cases of breast cancer. This study included 35 patients of pathologically proved breast cancer and they were divided into 31 females (88.57%) and 4 males (11.43%). The age ranged between 25 and 71 years and the largest age distribution ranged between 40-50 years including 13 females (37.14%) and 2 males (5.71%). Eighteen (58.06%) of the studied female patients (31) were in natural menopause while 11 (35.48%) of them were in therapeutically induced menopause. There were 2 (6.45%) premenopausal patients only. Twenty-eight (80%) of the studied patients (35) presented with metastases to the lungs, the must of these patients (12) (34.29%) aged between 40-50 years and all male patients (4) (11.43%) presented with metastases to the lungs. Twenty-five of cases (71.43%) had unilateral breast cancer and 19 (54.29%) of them presented with lung metastases. Significantly, 9 |
