Abstract As Cancer is a complex disease in which multiple genetic aberrations occur in those cells destined to become malignant. -One of the most changeable genes is the P53 tumour suppressor gene. Since its’ discorery 1979 ” lane et al ” it has been found it to be the most common altered gene in human tumours ”Hollestien 1991 ” I-After the threshold of sufficient Mutations has been reached. The Malignant cell proliferates in an uncontrolled fashion ”Fearon et ai, 1990 ” -Each of the critical mutations required for the malignant character of the original transfonned cell is transmitted to the progeny of that cell. The progeny constitute a clone with all members genetically similar if not protoidentical to the progenitor cell .additional mutations in oncogenes, tumour suppressor genes. -May accumulat in subclones of this progeny and these mutations may further modify the growth or behavior of the subclone in a wide v~ety of ways. -These genetic alteration may be in the fonn of :- * Cytogenic Abnonnalities . * Deletions. . * Point Mutation. ) . * DNA rearrangement. * DNA amplification |
