Abstract Pancreatic carcinoma is a disease with dismal prognosis and despite recent advances in diagnostic techniques, carcinoma of the pancreas is usually diagnosdd in advanced stages. Even if distant metastasis is not detectable at laparotomy, the invasion into the retroperitoneal spaces is likely, involving major arteries such as the common hepatic artery, celiac axis and superior mesenteric artery. Immunotherapy is a new modality for cancer treatment by which we aimed to intensify the compromized immune system of patients to get rid of their cancers. Cytokine group is one of the most effective agents used for this purpose especially is potent stimulus for IL-2R I expression on CD8 T lymphocytes,, it also effectively stimulate N.K The aim of this work is to deliver a high dose of anticancer agents into the cancer tissue and a low dose into the non can ceroustissues. Our study coducted on 36 patients with unresectable pancreatic carcinoma and in vivo dual immunostimulation was done by IL-2 and yIFN followeid by course of chemotherapy. Immunological parameters were studied before and after immuno-chemotherapy including CD3, CD4 CD8 CD16,N.K. cytotoxicity, ICAM- I IL-2) IL-2R, TNFoc , 7IFN, CD 1 4 Results showed that all patients continued with higher performance status levels for more than 70 % of their survival periods. The pancreatic tumor either decreased in size or remain without progression. The survival rates significantly increased. |
