Abstract
This study was conducted on ninety three patients attending Mansoura University Hospital suffering from various forms of .malignancies, in addition to twenty patients with nonmalignant conditions. These patients were classified into * Breast cancer group This group comprised 8 cases in stage L. 15 cases in stage 11 and 7 cases in stage 111. * Colorectal cancer group This group comprised 8 cases in Dukes A and B and 13 cases in Dukes C Hepatic group This group was categorized into I - Hepatocellular cancer 2- Cirrhosis * Pancreatic cancer This group comprised 12 cases * Genitourinary This group comprised: I - Urinary bladder cancer 2- Prostatic cancer 3- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (I 0 cases) * Healthy controls (22 cases) matched for age and sex were Included This study i,va-s designed ainfing to Evaluate the levels of total slatic acid and lipid sialic acid in malignant groups studied and compare these levels with their values in the normal control and non malignant diseases Compare the sensitivities of these markers with the other conventional used markers. Re-evaluate the levels of the markers after surgery in some groups.
