Abstract This study included 30 patients with differentiated and medullary thyroid cancer. They were classified pathologically into papillary type (10 patients), follicular type (10 patients), mixed papillary and follicular type (2 patients) and lastly medullary type (8 patients) .The ages of our patients ranged from 30-70 years with mean age (50 years) .They were subjected to careful history and thorough complete clinical examination. History of previous irradiation to the neck and pain referred to the ear was taken. Special stress was layed on age (mean age 50 years), sex (mostly males 19 patients), antithyroid drugs (dose & duration) .,Long standing thyroid swelling (diffuse thyroid swelling in 3 patients, S. T.N. in 11 patielrts aIld M.N.G. in 14 patients) .Enlargement of lymph nodes in neck (3 patients). Rapid recent increase in the size of the tumor was present in 10 patients. Gradual increase in the size of the tumor was present in 12 patients. Associated malignancy wa} present in 4 patients. Hoarseness of voice (20 patients), dyspnea (presnet in 12 patients), dysphagia (presnet in 12 patients). History of previous irradiation to the neck and pain referred to the ear was taken. Clinical examination in our study included: General examination (build, voice, blood pressure pulse, temperature, tremors) .Cardiac, abdominal, chest and limb examination was done. |
