Abstract This work includes a retrospective analysis of 79 oonsecautive patients who were subjected to highly selective vagotomy for the management of chronic duodenal ulcer All patients were subjected before surgery to a full trial of medical treatment in the form of receptor antagonists and antacids with no response. There was no operative mortality, recurrent ulceration was detected in 12 cases (17.1%) but most of them responded to medical treatment, stasis was detected in 2 cases (2.8%) for whom drainage procedure in the form of gostro unostomy was done, clinical evidenoe of dumping was noticed in here thoases (2.8%), mild diarx’hea and were a tranaie11t symptoms in 9 (11.2%) and 40 (57.1%) casesrespectivaly. The evaluation of the clinical outcome using modified visick scoring showed an excellent and very good acore in 74% and unsatisfactory in 20% of the oases. |
