Abstract The material of the present stUdy comprised 23 patients of rheumatic mitral valve lesions, 8 males and 15 females with the age ranging from 10-48 years. Cases were selected on clinical basis from general medicine and pediateric departments of Mansoura University hospital. All our patients were subjected to: - Thorough clinical examination. - Electro cardiographic examination. - Chest and heart radiographic examinat:i.on. (Postro-anterior view and left lateral view with barium filled oesphagous). - Echo cardiographic examination (M-mode, 2D and Doppler) . The aim of this work is to find out the most reliable non invasive technique of these in assessment of the clinical situation and detection of any complications in cases of rheumatic mitral valve lesions. Several points were arrived to:- * The c I i ni c eI assessment of the severi ty of the condition though sometimes offer accurate an judgement, yet it is not always a reliable measure of the severity of the lesion. |
