Abstract As a result of progressive aging of the population as as the increased exposure to competitive stresses, ardiovascular disease has been one of the leading causes Of the various components of cardiovascular dis¬stands as an important one accounting for the mortality rate. In IHD, epidemiological methods are needed to provide about its etiology and to identify factors that increase the risk of developing the disease with the final aim of prevention and control. This study comprised: a) Prospective study. b) Retrospective study. The prospective study was carried out on 89 patients with IHD (61 males and 28 females). Diagnosis of IHD depended mainly on thorough history taking of chest pain, cli¬nical examination and electrocardiography. The retrospective study was carried out on the medical records of 180 patients with IHD (142 males and 38 females) previously admitted to the coronary care unit.
