Abstract e main goal of this work is to specify the maternal luences on infant growth and development and throw more ht on how biOlogical. social and cUltural factors related mother’s chi Idhood and adul t environment are linked to alth hazards of their next generation. Concern is also out health programs and hoW health services and facilities e accepted and used by mothers. In the present study a cohort of neonates (305) born in the ame year to 305 rural women was studied and followed up for he first year of their life to assess their heal th status I nd to elaborate the impact of different maternal influences n growth and development of these infants. In the present study. 267 (94.1%) infants had average birth we ight. The mean va 1 ues of the body weight, length, head circumference. and mid_arm circumference for the studied males were significantlY higher than that of the studied females.
