Abstract

The pancreas was one of the most hidden organs inaccessible to imaging. The revolutionary technol~gy of CT solved this problem by mak i ns the entire retroperitoneum including the pancreas readily visible. So that, the total extent of neoplastic disease as well as solution of complex clinical situations involving the pancreas can be determined. It is also effective in detecting and characterizing calcium and cystic densities within the region of the pancreas. In this series two groups were included the first group included 25 patients being evaluated for other abdominal abnormalities in order to demonstrate the CT appearance of the normal pancreas, they were 15 males and 10 females with their ages ranged from 16 to 72 years. The second group comprised 35 patients their clinical picture and ultrasonography were suggestive of pancreatic lesion. They included 22 males and 13 females, their ages ranged from 30 to 76 years. All the cases of the second group were subjected to: full clinical examination, abdominal ultrasonography for all the cases of group II and CT examination of the abdomen, 9 cases were examined without.
