Abstract

Computed tomography has proved it self to be a sensitive diagnostic tool in diagnosis of adrenal gland disorders. In our study 70 patients (37 males and 33 females) were encountered and divided into three groups: Group I: (Normal adrenals), included 20 patients (8 and 12 females), their age ranged from 15 to 70 years. They were evaluated for other abdominal abnormalities in order to demonstrate the CT anatomy of the normal adrenal glands. Group II: Included 24 patients with benign adrenal lesions (8 males and 16 females) their age ranged from 2 days to 60 years. It included 4 cases of diffuse cortical hyperplasia secondary to pituitary Cushing’s disease, 2 cases of functioning adenoma presented by Cushing’s syndrome, 5 cases of non-functioning adenoma, 3 cases of myelolipoma, one case of neonatal adrenal hemorrhage and 9 cases had 11 masses of benign pheochromocytoma. Group III: Included 26 patients with malignant adrenal lesions (21 males and 5 females), their age ranged from 1.5 to 67 years. It included 2 cases of malignant pheochromocytoma. 6 cases had 7 masses of neuroblastoma. 1 case of functioning carcinoma presented by Cushing’s.
